Policeman Troubles

Good morning all!
So it’s almost two weeks until our EP launch weekend. We’re playing Sydney on the Thursday, Wyong on the Friday, and The EP launch is on the Saturday in Newcastle’s very own Cambridge Hotel. We’ve got all the posters and artwork completed for our entire Battles Begun tour, so you’ll no doubt be seeing poster’s around Newcastle in the coming days or if your lucky enough our street team might be doing letter box drops in your vicinity! If you just can’t wait for us to come to you, then rock on over to our Myspace page and you can see our gig dates and artwork for yourself.

To fill you in on what’s been happening with each of us. Luke’s crashed his car another 2 times in the last month, one of which was on the way to a show (66% of all his crashes are on the way to gigs, sorry luke!). Unfortunately, his car’s effectively written off (R.I.P VL) and we’ll all probably see him cruising in a much tidier vehicle quite soon. Hopefully this one has a little more luck. (to Luke’s credit the first crash was in Sydney and he’s a country feller, the second was another car running into him, and the most recent was in the rain. So he’s just been an unfortunate young man!)

Tom and Sam have been doing there thing getting this tour organised. The artwork and merchandise is looking great if you haven’t seen it yet. We caught up the other day after work to go to touch football in Dungog. Sam and our friend Daniel had been drinking Extra Dry platinum’s (for those who don’t know, they’re two standard drink beers) all afternoon and were easily smashed. Tom drove us to the game (and I caught up on some of the funniest beer you’ll drink, Tasman Bitter) and on the way we bought some adulterated magazines, affectionately known by us as ‘Car Porn’. At an intersection we thought it would be the best if we put it up to a window to show another car. As Sam held the magazine in question, I rolled his window down. Unfortunately for us it turned out to be a policeman in the other car, fortunately for us he was on his way to work and not actually on duty…

“You trying to be smart mate?” the policeman said.
“No, sir.” Said Sam as he looked at the ground and the car grew considerably quieter.

When the lights went green we were off like a raw prawn in the sun.

I’ve been working heaps, and in my spare time I’ve managed to watch some beast movies. Definitely go see ‘the labyrynth’ it’s a movie from the 80’s with David Bowie in it. It’s heaps similar to the whole ‘Never Ending Story’ style of movie. Also, I went to Sydney the other day to see my dad’s band ‘Samurai Trash’ – they’re from the 80’s also! Check out their myspace, they’ve got some awesome old school music.

We’ve been writing a quite a bit more music along the lines of Battles Begun and 6/4 (for those who’ve been to live show’s recently) but we’ve been playing with timing, accents and chord changes to keep song interesting and challenging while keeping them easy (and satisfying) to listen to. Keeping to our signature heavy rock style is no challenge when you look at the riffs and rhythm’s we’ve been writing, but it’s trying to make it catchy that’s definitely been fun.

Hopefully we can see you guys at a show soon, the EP launch weekend is going to be huge. If you’re in Sydney, Wyong or Newcastle we’d love it if you could come along! See you soon.

Love Redneck
