ETA - 1 Week.

As of yesterday, we’re one week out from the first 3 show stint of our Battles Begun tour. We’ve invited everyone we know to Newcastle show at the Cambridge on the Saturday – it’s going to be a huge show. We’ve had our last practice before we begin in Sydney on the Thursday, as Luke’s gone on holidays to Queensland until next Wednesday. We’re going to pack up all our gear into my dad’s station wagon (hopefully it all fits) and journey down to Sydney on Thursday after work. We’re playing at the Bull and Bush in Baulkam Hills – with the band ‘Marlow’. We’re going to take a camera for the whole weekend, so you’ll have some first hand footage of our travels.

Today our song ‘Battles Begun’ has been featured in the ‘Hit the Pavement’ Podcast. It’s a podcast that showcases Australian uncovered independent music. There are some other great bands on there, so if you’ve got a spare moment have a listen. You can find it at: http://hitthepavement.wordpress.com/ and don’t forget you can download our single ‘Battles Begun’ for free on our myspace.

And in recent news, the new changes to licensing laws for venues are very exciting. They’ve changed the laws so that pubs don’t have to be approved as a POPE (Place of Public Entertainment) to have live bands. This should prove very fruitful for any burgeoning music scene. It’ll open up heaps of opportunities for local Newcastle acts especially, and hopefully we can help restore the scene to its former glory. We’ve just got to convince some smaller pubs to open up performing areas – hopefully there isn’t a huge influx of cover bands… ew. You can check out the details at: http://www.olgr.nsw.gov.au/bb_music.asp

If you’ve seen the posters around Newcastle, then you’ll agree that our designer Luke Oliver has outdone himself. You can check out the artwork – and the gig list – on our myspace page. http://www.myspace.com/calebskipschemistry
